5 ton/day Bio-methane Liquefaction Systems

5 ton/day Bio-methane Liquefaction Systems

Cryonorm is a strong believer of utilizing biomethane close to the feedstock. It’s preferred to move high caloric bioLNG rather than low caloric digester feedstock to large scale digesters.

For perspective, 5 tons of bioLNG can fuel an Iveco Stralis truck for 16,000 km. This means that just 2.5 days of bioLNG production can power a truck to circumnavigate the globe! With the number of digesters already installed and continually increasing, the potential of biomethane is vast. Many small streams will create a mighty river!

Cryonorm developed a robust and user-friendly bio-methane liquefaction unit utilizing Liquid Nitrogen (LIN) as sacrificial cooling medium.

Key advantages:

-        Lowest possible capital expenditures (CAPEX)

o   With the bio-methane market being relatively new, keeping CAPEX low reduces both depreciation and project risk amidst regulatory changes and price volatility

-        Simplicity of operation

o   Digester sites often lack skilled operators for complex liquefaction processes involving rotating equipment. Our unit is designed for straightforward operation, ensuring efficiency and reliability.

-        Short lead time

o   Lead time of approx. 6 months, significantly shorter than the 1-2 years typically required for alternative processes involving rotating equipment.

Our 5 ton/day biomethane liquefaction unit is designed for seamless operation, capable of automatically starting, stopping, and adjusting to incoming biomethane flow without the need for a process engineer or operator.

This commercially viable solution allows customers to efficiently recover and monetize biomethane produced during anaerobic digestion processes directly at the digester site.

§  Biogas from animal manure and green waste is a perfect source for bioLNG.

§  Prior liquefaction, the bio-methane needs to be dried and purified to achieve the following composition:

  • CH4: 97-99% (v) , CO2: <50 pp (v) , H2O: < 0,1ppm (v) , N2: < 2% (v) , O2: < 0,5% (v)
  • H2S and Ammonia needs to be removed upstream of the purifier unit.
  • Inlet pressure 5-15 barg

§  Based on customer demand, Cryonorm can supply both biogas upgrading plant as well as liquefaction units.

§  Based on customer demand, Cryonorm can supply liquefaction system for LCO2 as well.

§  Fully shop manufactured and tested systems designed for 5 ton/day, bio-LNG storage volumes flexible and to be discussed with the customer.

Skidded design, easy to install and, if required, easily relocate to other gas field or digester.
