CO2 Liquefaction Systems

CO2 Liquefaction Systems

The shortage of CO2 has driven Cryonorm Group to develop small, modular liquefaction systems. Particularly, CO2 generated in digesters holds significant potential, with volumes sufficient to replace fossil LCO2 and meet any LCO2 demand.

At Cryonorm Group, we design and manufacture state-of-the-art CO2 liquefiers tailored to meet diverse industrial needs. Our liquefiers are characterized by:

  • High Efficiency: Advanced cooling technologies ensure minimal energy consumption and optimal performance.
  • Robust Design: Built to withstand rigorous industrial environments, ensuring longevity and reliability.
  • Scalability: Modular designs allow for easy scaling, accommodating both small and large-scale operations.
  • Safety: Equipped with multiple safety mechanisms to handle the low temperatures and high pressures involved in the liquefaction process.

The CO2 liquefaction process in six steps:

  1. Impurity Removal: CO2 is purified using an activated carbon filter.
  2. Compression: The CO2 is compressed with an oil-free, multistage compressor.
  3. Moisture Removal: Moisture is extracted via an automatic molecular sieve dryer.
  4. Liquefaction: Non-condensable gases remain gaseous as CO2 condenses in the liquefier.
  5. Extraction: Non-condensables are extracted during the liquefaction process.
  6. Storage: Purified, liquid CO2 is stored in an insulated tank for various uses.

Applications of Liquefied CO2:

  1. Food and Beverage: Used for carbonation in soft drinks and as a refrigerant in food preservation.
  2. Chemical Manufacturing: Essential in the production of certain chemicals and materials.
  3. Greenhouses: Increasing CO2 levels to boost productivity.
  4. Oil and Gas: Applied in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) processes.
  5. Environmental Management: Utilized in carbon capture and storage (CCS) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
