Different Feed Gases Require Different Liquefaction Solutions

The composition and condition of the feed gas play an important role in the design and performance of an LNG liquefaction installation. No two feed gas streams behave the same way, which is why a one-size-fits-all approach rarely delivers optimal results.

CRYOLIQ™ Configurations by Feed Gas Type

The CRYOLIQ™ product range can be configured for a variety of feed gas sources, including:

  • Grid natural gas
  • Raw biogas
  • Upgraded biomethane

Each feed gas type brings its own composition and impurity profile, which directly shapes how the liquefaction process should be engineered for stable, reliable output.

Open Loop vs. Closed Loop Refrigeration

CRYOLIQ™ offers two refrigeration cycle configurations to match different project needs:

  • Closed Loop configuration: uses a nitrogen turboexpander refrigeration cycle
  • Open Loop configuration: uses liquid nitrogen for the cooling process

Choosing between an open-loop and closed-loop LNG liquefaction setup depends on factors such as nitrogen supply, production capacity, and site infrastructure.

Full System Integration

Depending on project requirements, CRYOLIQ™ can also be integrated with:

  • Gas upgrading and polishing
  • LNG storage
  • Boil-off gas handling
  • Truck loading
  • Remote monitoring systems

A Modular Approach to LNG Liquefaction

This modular approach allows the liquefaction system to be aligned with the specific feed gas, required production capacity, and operational conditions of each project — whether the source is natural gas, raw biogas, or upgraded biomethane.
